Mormons "Baptize" Simon Wiesenthal

From Global Jewish News:
The Simon Wiesenthal Center called on the Mormon Church to remove its Nazi hunter namesake from the church's online database of posthumous baptisms.

Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean of the Wiesenthal Center, made the urgent request after being informed by Salt Lake City researcher Helen Radkey that Wiesenthal's name had been added about a week ago to the Mormons' International Genealogical Index.

"We are astounded and dismayed that after assurances and promises by the Mormon Church, Mr. Wiesenthal's life and memory, along with so many other Jews, would be trampled and disregarded," Hier said.

Wiesenthal "proudly lived as a Jew, died as a Jew, demanded justice for the millions of the victims of the Holocaust and, at his request, was buried in the State of Israel," he said.

"It is sacrilegious for the Mormon faith to desecrate his memory by suggesting that Jews on their own are not worthy enough to receive God's eternal blessing."

Hier also urged the Utah-based Church to remove the names of all other Holocaust victims from the list.

Many Jews, including Holocaust victims, have been found on the index.

Mormon officials promised in 1995 to stop the practice of posthumously baptizing Jews, but did not. They reiterated the pledge in 2000.

Good Grief, Charlie Brown! "Peanuts" Creator Charles Schulz Has Been Baptized For The Dead

Topic: BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD - PEOPLE   -Link To MC Article-
Without disclosing personal identities here, I have it from a direct, inside and unimpeachable source who was very close to Charles Schulz that he has been baptized for the dead by a family member who converted to Mormonism.

The person (whom I have known for several years and who relayed this information to me recently) said, in a phone conversation on an unrelated matter that "Sparky" (as he was known to friends and family) had been "prayed into heaven" by the Mormon faithful.

I noted that what was being referred to here was the practice of proxy baptism for the dead.

I further observed that, according to LDS belief, "Sparky" was now residing in a "holding tank" of sorts in the post-mortal "spirit world," where he could observe a baptism for the dead being done on his behalf and then decide whether or not to accept it and become a Mormon.

My source advised me that an ex-Mormon friend had informed this individual that once having been baptized for the dead, Schulz could move freely about Mormon heaven.

I responded by observing that this was not an accurate portrayal of actual Mormon doctrine.

I noted that the highest level of Mormon heaven was reserved for faithful members of the LDS Church.

The second level, I continued, was designated for basically good and decent non-Mormon folk who nonetheless were deceived into never becoming baptized Mormons and that the third, or lowest, level of Mormon heaven was according to LDS doctrine the final destination for murderers, rapists and other wicked people.

This person responded by observing that Mormons therefore didn't seem to believe in a traditional heaven or hell.

I replied that such was indeed the case but that, contrary to what this individual had been told by an ex-Mormon, Schulz could not travel between kingdoms in Mormon heaven--that, instead, once the Judgment Day arrived and everyone was assessed and assigned to their respective place in LDS heaven, that was it--meaning they were not allowed to move freely about the kingdoms.

The reaction of this person to that news was: "Sparky wouldn't like that."

I knew Charles Schulz, having met and visited with him at national cartoonist conventions. On one such occasion, I had an extended one-on-one chat with him on a chartered bus trip, where we engaged in pleasant conversation.

I found him to be a warm, gentle, unassuming, approachable and soft-spoken man who liked to wear sweaters.

He mentioned to me that a member of his family had, in fact, become a Mormon and that while he did not agree with Mormonism, he found Mormons themselves to be nice people.

Now the question is, "Has Charles 'Sparky' Schulz himself become a Mormon?"

Since my uniquely knowledgable source has informed me that "Sparky" wouldn't appreciate the idea of not being allowed to travel around Mormonism's multi-layered heaven unimpeded, Mormons cannot be too sure.

The LDS Church Has Rebaptized Ted Bundy
Friday, Feb 20, 2009, at 05:27 PM
Original Author(s): Helen Radkey
Topic: BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD - PEOPLE   -Link To MC Article-
Theodore Robert Bundy, prolific serial killer and rapist–one of the most notorious and despised murderers in U.S. history–has been posthumously baptized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Proxy rites for Bundy, consisting of a baptism and an “endowment” ceremony, were performed on May 28, 2008 in the Jordan River Utah Temple, a Mormon temple in South Jordan, a suburb 16 miles south of downtown Salt Lake City.

Theodore Bundy, who became better known as Ted Bundy, was born on November 24, 1946, in Burlington, Vermont. Bundy was listed in the LDS Church’s database of posthumous ordinances, the International Genealogical Index (IGI), under his birth name, Theodore Robert Cowell, to conceal his criminal identity. That online IGI entry suddenly disappeared on February 11, 2009, immediately after this story went public.

Between 1974 and 1978, Ted Bundy raped and killed an untold number of young women in Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Utah, and Florida. Authorities believe his victims numbered well over 100. On January 24, 1989, after a ten-year stay of execution, Bundy was executed in the electric chair at Florida State Prison in Starke, Florida. Many spectators cheered and toasted his death with champagne.

In the fall of 1974, during the time he was murdering innocent women, Ted Bundy moved to Salt Lake City. The following year, he joined the LDS Church. Bundy’s involvement with the Mormon religion was apparently short-lived. His name may have been removed from Mormon membership rolls because of his criminal record.

Throwing justice to the wind, less than twenty years after Ted Bundy’s execution, and in the state of Utah–where Bundy once roamed and brutally killed young women without remorse–the LDS Church has secretly reclaimed its most cold-blooded killer.

President Barack Obama's Mother Is Now A Mormon - Stanley Ann Dunham Baptized In A Mormon Temple
Friday, May 1, 2009, at 03:12 PM
Original Author(s): Infymus
Topic: BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD - PEOPLE   -Link To MC Article-
While Barack Hussein Obama, now president of our country, was hot on the presidential campaign trail in 2008, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints posthumously baptized Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham. Barack Obama's mother was baptized on June 4, 2008 in the Provo Utah Temple, and "endowed" in the same LDS temple on June 11, 2008.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_O...

Barack Obama was born at the Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States, to Stanley Ann Dunham, an American of mainly English descent from Wichita, Kansas.

...(Barack would lose his mother to cancer 1995.)...

Update:

Mormon Apologists are now attacking the author of this article stating "Is a Mormon" is yellow journalism and calling the article an "outright lie" because it states simply that Barack's mother is now a Mormon.

Technicalities. Attack the author, not the story. Call the story lies because of how it was written.

"Brother (or Sister) ________, having authority, I baptize you, for and in behalf of________, who is dead, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen."

She is now a baptized using the Mormon version of baptism.

"Brother (or Sister) ________, in the name of Jesus Christ, we lay our hands upon your head for and in behalf of ________, who is dead, and confirm you a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and say unto you: Receive the Holy Ghost. Amen."

This has now spread:

http://www.americablog.com/2009/05/di...

http://www.pensitoreview.com/2009/05/...

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpun...

And yes, I've read the responses on American Blog. There are several Mormons on there defending the faith. Mormon Apologists on MAAD are calling the articles, "Yellow Journalism" and outright "lies". Another Mormon claimed, "What horrible, ignorant, biased crap this column is consistently full of!"

Their reasoning is as it has always been with Mormons: You cannot take offense because Obama's mother is NOT a Mormon - she can accept or reject it. Any article written any other way is biased, horrible and ignorant.

They ignore the fact that Mormons dressed in 19th century Masonic clothes - performed Masonic rituals twisted into Mormon necrotic ceremonies wherein they pronounced her name aloud - and confirmed her baptized AND as a member of the Mormon Cult (with the words, "who is dead" inserted). This all done within a paying “members-only” temple in absolute secrecy. The Mormon Church has come out stating that they take this matter “very seriously”, however, if the story had not been broken, the Mormon Church would have said absolutely nothing.

A interesting note: Barack's mother is white while his father is black. Prior to the 1978 Mormon "revelation" allowing Blacks to have the Mormon Priesthood, the Mormon Church actively forbid members to marry interracially. Mormon Prophet Brigham Young stated that any man or woman who married a black person was worthy of “death on the spot.”

Kennedy's Eternal Salvation Will Have To Wait

From the Salt Lake Tribune:
It's not certain whether the late Sen. Ted Kennedy would be more palatable to conservative Utah Republicans if he were a Mormon, but it appears someone tried to make that happen.

Just one day after Kennedy died, someone apparently posted his name on an LDS Church database to have him placed on the list to be posthumously baptized.

That posting was uncovered by researcher Helen Radkey, who has been critical of the church practice.

Newest Catholic Saint Baptized And "Sealed" To Wife In LDS Temple?

From The Salt Lake Tribune:
Father Damien, the Roman Catholic priest who cared for lepers in Hawaii in the 19th century, apparently is a saint twice over.

But Helen Radkey, a critic of the Salt Lake City-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said Monday that research shows Mormons have both baptized Damien by proxy and "sealed" him for eternity to a wife named Marie Damien.

"It's blatantly wrong to seal a person who took a vow of celibacy as a Catholic priest and is so revered in his Catholic religion," said Radkey, a former Catholic. "It's insulting to perform such an action posthumously. It's very disrespectful."

Josef Mengele, Angel Of Death, Mormon By Proxy
Monday, Sep 6, 2010, at 10:27 AM

Topic: BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD - PEOPLE   -Link To MC Article-
The Mormon Temple lists some people who have been proxy baptized by Mormons. Among them is Josef Mengele, Nazi MD.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum site describes Mengele:

"Josef Mengele was an SS physician, infamous for his inhumane medical experimentation upon concentration camp prisoners at Auschwitz."

Museum Site:

http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.p...

This caused me to reflect on the values, beliefs, procedures and choices of Mormon Church leaders. My conclusions are that reason is muddled, ethics are questionable and inconsistency abounds.

Sometimes baptism of potential adult converts is delayed or even refused, according to missionaries I knew and my own observations. If any of the following apply, the missionaries cannot schedule a baptism but must consult with the MP and for the actions considered more serious the potential convert must be cleared by the FP. Reasons for delaying or refusing baptism, and/or for needing to consult with top leaders that I know of include continuing to smoke, current alcohol use, being sexually active while unmarried (including homosexuality), having had or consenting to (eg: paying for) an abortion, failure to follow the WoW (eg: drinking coffee/tea), being "unrepentant" for past actions deemed "sin", having served time in prison while convicted of a crime, being or having been a prostitute or using or having used the services of a prostitute, incest and murder.

It would appear that Mormon leaders wish to ensure that as far as possible the people joining their church have agreed to live the Mormon lifestyle and are currently doing so prior to baptism and that they have repented of any former major "sin" in the Mormon-approved fashion. This is so important that top leaders are involved in some baptism decisions, including the MP and even the FP (for issues like abortion, prison sentences for criminal behaviour and major issues such as murder). If the prospective convert is not willing to get into line or is not seen to be properly repentant even for past actions, the baptism may well not proceed.

In my case, I clearly told the missionaries and my TBM friends that I did not have "a testimony" of JS being a prophet but they said it was OK to get baptized anyway and "the rest will come". After baptism, I told the bishop the same thing about my [lack of] testimony re JS and he issued me a TR anyway, first for dead dunking and next for going to the temple to get my "endowments". All of them believed, as I understand it, that it was their job to get a prospective convert or new member in line to "feel the Spirit" and then the testimony would arrive. This is somewhat along the lines of "fake it til you make it" with BICs, who are taught to testify of things they don’t actually believe in hopes of coming to believe them.

It is remarkable to me that all this care and attention in some cases is taken prior to baptism to ensure the person is "worthy" to be baptized while for other people they are pushed through no matter what and in the case of proxy baptisms, any name will do. Regarding Mormon baptism then, you see as much inconsistency as is present in so many other areas of the church as well.

With baptism the following appears to apply:

The baptism of a prospective convert may be delayed or cancelled due to the relatively benign “sin” of not following the WoW, such as failing to quit smoking.

A prospective convert has to be interviewed by the MP for, say, a past abortion, even if their present life is exemplary in every regard, even if bringing in the MP delays or cancels baptism.

For past actions considered to be major sin, even if looked after and repented of (eg: a prison sentence for a criminal act), the baptism of a prospective convert must be approved by the MP or even the FP.

Some reasons exist for not allowing a baptism to proceed, among them current lifestyle choices, such as continuing to smoke or drink or failure to follow the LoC. The latter includes being a sexually active homosexual.

Regarding being a member who is seen to transgress, the Mormon Church may disfellowship or excommunicate those who are considered to "speak against" the church, those gay or straight members who physically express love for their partner, and those who consume alcohol or tobacco, among other so-called offences.

In the Mormon Church, your membership is at risk if you speak out about something and leaders don't like your opinion or if you don’t follow the precepts concerning lifestyle choices (eg: WoW, LoC). But when it comes to proxy dunks, anything goes it seems. If you are a faithful member, such as D. Michael Quinn, Historian, you get ex’d when you publish research, historical fact and informed opinions that are undesirable to the FP. If you are Josef Mengele, Auschwitz MD, come aboard! Mengele is shown on a church list (as above) to be the recipient of a proxy baptism and confirmation into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I have read an explanation by Mormon apologists that the proxy baptisms only provide the *opportunity* for the deceased to accept the baptism/confirmation of membership. That apparently explains why anything goes when it comes to mining the dead for names to submit for temple rites. Even the Angel of Death is welcome to [potentially] become a Mormon! Meanwhile, faithful, hard-working, believing members beware. Your choices, behaviours, and circumstances could get you turfed out of the clubhouse. Where is the logic? The ethics? The humanity?

Jesus Was Baptized By Proxy On April 8, 2010
Tuesday, Sep 7, 2010, at 08:16 AM
Original Author(s): Mo Larkey
Topic: BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD - PEOPLE   -Link To MC Article-
Last night was a great show on KTMW/20 with Doris Hansen and Helen Radkey.."Polygamy ..what love is this." It's a must see and will be on the website soon... I will post it when available.

Ms. Radkey explains the records show that Jesus was baptized by proxy on April 8, 2010

“’Mary Mother of Jesus,’ the spouse of ‘Joseph’ ‘of the House of David…’ was baptized and confirmed a member of the LDS Church by proxy on December 9, 2009 in the Idaho Falls Idaho (LDS) Temple. She was subjected to initiatory temple ordinances on December 16, 2009; an endowment ceremony on December 26, 2009; and a sealing to parents on January 7, 2010–all rites occurred in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple.”

While Ms. Radkey found “Joseph” listed as Mary’s spouse, the submission form indicated Mary’s “Husband #1? was “God the Father.”

Ms. Radkey says her research also turned up recent proxy temple ordinances on behalf of Jesus Christ, though he is identified in the records as “Jesus Christian” and “Jesus Cristian.” Ms. Radkey explains the records show that Jesus was baptized by proxy on April 8, 2010, and after initiatory and endowment ordinances, was finally sealed to his “spouse” “Mary Magdelena” on April 9, 2010 – all at the Salt Lake City Temple. The same proxy ordinances were performed for “Mary Magdelena” on the same dates in the same LDS temple.

Steve Irwin, "The Crocodile Hunter", Has Been Posthumously Baptized By Mormons
Tuesday, Sep 28, 2010, at 12:44 PM
Original Author(s): Helen Radkey
Topic: BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD - PEOPLE   -Link To MC Article-
Stephen Robert Irwin (1962-2006), usually known as Steve Irwin, and nicknamed “The Crocodile Hunter”, was posthumously baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) by proxy in the Mesa Arizona (LDS) Temple, on September 1, 2010, four years after his death.

Steve Irwin was a hugely popular Australian television personality and wildlife expert. He achieved worldwide fame from the television program, The Crocodile Hunter, an internationally broadcast wildlife documentary series. A passionate conservationist, Irwin was widely recognized for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his Aussie slang, expression of astonishment, catchword “Crikey!” in The Crocodile Hunter television series.

Irwin, who made a trademark of hovering close to untethered crocodiles and leaping on their backs, spoke in rapid-fire bursts with a thick Australian accent, and was almost never seen without his signature uniform of khaki shorts and shirt and heavy boots.

On September 4, 2006, Irwin was fatally pierced in the chest by a stingray spine while filming at Batt Reef in the Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of northern Queensland. He left behind a grieving widow, Terri, and their two young children, Bindi and “Bob”.

As news of Steve Irwin’s sudden and freakish death began to send immediate shock waves around Australia, I was vacationing with members of my Australian family in the Hunter Valley wine region, north of Sydney, New South Wales.

“Steve Irwin is dead. He was killed by a stingray in Queensland,” declared the bungalow proprietor, as she gave my brother, Danny, the keys to two rental North Lodge Cottages at Pokolbin, near mountain ranges and vineyards, in the heart of Hunter wine country.

News of Steve Irwin’s death prompted widespread worldwide shock. Australia mourned the loss of one of its most colorful sons. It is estimated that over 300 million viewers watched the public memorial service for Irwin, broadcast live around the world on September 20, 2006, from Irwin’s wildlife park, Australia Zoo, in Beerwah, Queensland.

It is likely that Steve Irwin was baptized by Mormons without the permission of his next of kin. Not only would that action have occurred behind the backs of Irwin’s living family, details of ongoing LDS temple rituals are concealed from public viewing in the New FamilySearch database of the LDS Church that contains updated details of proxy rites for dead people–online at: https://new.familysearch.org/en/action/unsec/welcome . Only an accredited Mormon with a special user log-in can currently access this website.

LDS officials have publicly and repeatedly stated that the New FamilySearch is a technological deterrent to improper temple submissions. This relatively new computer program is supposed to reduce the submission of incorrect, inappropriate or dubious information that is being fed into the LDS temple system by “overzealous” Mormons. LDS Church members are asked to certify that their submissions meet church policy, and church staff are supposed to search records on a regular basis to identify wrongful entries.

Locating inappropriate submissions would be like looking for proverbial needles in an ever-increasing haystack because “overzealous” Mormons continue to inundate their temple system with names of non-relatives–including celebrities. All too often, church “file ferrets” find improper submissions after proxy baptisms have already occurred.

In addition to the New FamilySearch listing that describes the baptism and confirmation for Steve Irwin on September 1, 2010, there is a combined record for him in the same database. The combined record consists of numerous submissions for Irwin that are now merged–and lists the names of multiple Mormons who submitted his name for proxy rites. LDS ordinance details attached to the merged record are tagged as “Not available.” Since his death, Irwin has probably been baptized by proxy more than once by Mormons.

Examples of other deceased celebrities–with no known family ties to living Mormons–who were posthumously baptized in LDS temples during 2010, and whose entries are still visible in New FamilySearch, as of September 25, 2010, are the famous French names:

Claude Berri (1934-2009), born Claude Berel Langmann, great Jewish all-rounder of French cinema: an actor turned director, producer, and screenwriter.

Guillaume Depardieu (1971-2008), film actor and son of one of France’s most brilliant actors, Gérard Depardieu, and actress Élisabeth Depardieu.

Thierry Gilardi (1958-2008), popular soccer and rugby commentator who presented, edited, and led many sports programs on French television.

Yves Saint Laurent (1936-2008), Algerian-born French fashion designer who was considered one of the greatest names in French fashion in the 20th century.

Because of the peculiar LDS notion that all non-Mormons need post-mortem assimilation into Mormonism–some Mormons submit the names of any dead person for LDS rites.

With the details of his September 1, 2010 posthumous baptism still online in New FamilySearch, nearly a month later, Australian wildlife icon, Steve “Crikey” Irwin, is one of the many names that have slipped through the safeguards of a new submissions system that doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as secure as LDS officials claim.

Aleister Crowley, The Infamous Occultist, Was Baptized In The Salt Lake (Mormon) Temple
Thursday, Jan 6, 2011, at 07:52 AM
Original Author(s): Helen Radkey
Topic: BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD - PEOPLE   -Link To MC Article-
Mormons embraced erotic decadence and full-blown diabolism when they added the name of notorious black magician, Aleister Crowley–a self-proclaimed antichrist and servant of Satan–to the lists of the dead who have been subjected to Mormon rites.

In the same Utah temple where Jesus Christ was “posthumously” baptized in April 2010, Aleister Crowley was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by proxy on December 22, 2010 in the Salt Lake Temple, located on Temple Square in the heart of Mormon-dominated Salt Lake City.

Aleister Crowley (1875 – 1947), born Edward Alexander Crowley, was also known as Frater Perdurabo and The Great Beast. Well-known for practicing black magic, Aleister Crowley was a promiscuous, power-hungry Satanist who devoted his life to the occult and identifed himself with the number “666”. Crowley revolted against the moral and religious values of his time. He espoused a form of hedonism based upon the rule of "Do What Thou Wilt." As a ceremonial magician, Crowley kept a series of women as his magic consorts, engaging in sexual rituals with them. Bisexual Crowley also practised male homosexual sex magic. Crowley was a habitual drug user who was addicted to heroin. He gained widespread notoriety during his lifetime and was denounced in the popular press of the day as "the wickedest man in the world." Although he spent his life in a fruitless search for supernatural powers–by way of poetry, drugs, and sex magic–Aleister Crowley is widely thought of as the most influential occultist of all time.

Despite LDS claims of a new computer program that changes the way in which names are submitted to LDS temples for posthumous rites, the LDS Church still appears to have an ineffective screening system. Mormons continue to submit the names of Jewish Holocaust victims and famous deceased persons who were not related to living Mormons.

Elizabeth (nee Anania) Edwards was in the US public limelight whem she died of breast cancer in December 2010. Without permission from the Edward’s family, (Mary) Elizabeth Anania’s name was submitted for proxy rituals within a day of her death. Jett Travolta, who died in 2009, the 16-year-old son of celebrity Scientologists, was posthumously baptized in December 2010, without permission from the Travolta family.

Aleister Crowley’s name has done the rounds through an LDS temple before. An old CD-ROM file at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City shows a baptism for “Edward Alexander or Aleister Crowley” occurred in the Ogden Utah Temple in 1991. The LDS Church’s new computer program does not appear to be as secure as LDS officials claim. A Mormon, with no family ties to Crowley, was able to resubmit Crowley’s name for the LDS temple rites that were done for Crowley in the Salt Lake Temple in December 2010.

A story about the Mormons posthumously baptizing Dutch royals has hit the wire last night:

http://www.trouw.nl/tr/nl/5091/Religi...

"Trouw" is a national newspaper and this morning, several other national news outlets have picked up the story.

Of course, the church blames "overenthousiastic members" but I have already posted a rebuttal on my blog and put in a comment with a link at the newspaper's website (not through moderation yet):

All articles are in Dutch, of course, but the quotes refuting the claims of "overenthousiastic members" are in English. Enjoy!
