I am curious as to why you posted your story about
leaving the church? Was it just to make your bishop
look bad? Had he been your buddy over the years, would
you had stayed a member? It sounded that way. You came
across to me as a whining little baby. Someone has to
hang out with you all of the time to be your friend? A
neighbor can't be a friend? Did you guys wave to each
other in passing? I suppose this bishop was suppose to
chase you around and wipe your butt all the time, huh?
You're as pathetic as the jerks who degrade my
religion at General Conference. I watch conference on
television because I'd have no problem kicking the
crap out of someone degrading what I hold as sacred.
I will give you this, I appreciate your warning on
your site. Knowing what people are getting into is
helpful and respectful.

What is wrong with teaching values of parents in the ENSIGN? With all the sickness in the world, you
turn around with your sick mind, and cut down a faith that teach strong families. You need some
serious help, Bubba.
You need to find something better to do with your time. You are rehashing things that have been
rehashed, and rehashed, and you need to get a life. Your analysis of my faith is totally wrong--based
on erroneous assumptions, hearsay and numerous other fallacies and name calling.
By the way, as many cities, downtown core areas are loosing business due to malls out in the outlying
area. There is goodness in the LDS coming forth to help build downtown Salt Lake City. You may
want to check, but the LDS Church already owns the land in question. For your information, most
stores in Salt Lake that are LDS owned (by members) are closed on Sunday. So, what! The Bible
teaches to rest on Sunday -- so we are practicing Biblical standards. I see nothing wrong with that.
For the LDS church to bring in businesses to help the core area develop, bring in new businesses, students
(as with a BYU-Salt Lake Center) is a "good thing." Your attitude is a "sicko" bad thing...and you ought to chill out man.
And Bubba, it is common for an organization to give to various causes. You're opinions are wrong that the
LDS is not helping people, by building the downtown core area. Another erroneous assumption by your
deluded mind. 1. If the church helps business (even NON-LDS businesses) it is helping the poor in Utah,
providing jobs, taxes, etc. 2. The LDS Church sends out millions to various relief funds throughout the]
world, and not just LDS members. 3. LDS members themselves donate money, time and talents to their
communities, and they freely give of their tithing for the church to use (and if the church provides money
for the downtown area from tithing -- so what? Big deal. It is helping downtown Salt Lake City get back
on its feet. 4. LDS members in need are given church help, which keeps them off of Federal aid. I could
go on and on....

The subhead should be "Aimlessly Bashing the Mormon World".
Recovery?? That's an even bigger joke. You mean recovery from a moral life back to a do whatever you want one? To a let's hate the Mormons one? I doubt you were ever a serious member. The main articles on the site show no indication of real knowledge of how the church works or what it's members believe.
I mean really. What's with totally unfounded malarky like this?:
Maybe he was laughing so hard at the easy life, he wasn't paying attention? It must be that damn nepotism biting him in the ass or the eye!! Interesting isn't it?!! At least we know that the Church will take care of the bills and surgeries, so no worries there!! At least the Mormon God looks after his anointed in that regard!!
Nepotism is a ridiculous term to use, since no position in the church heirarchy goes to descendants or relations except where earned by longstanding service in the organization, as every member knows.
All that garbage about the easy life?
The Prophet is 95 years old and travels thousands of miles a year in order to keep the church running and to address followers, as well as the umpteen thousand other things he and the other top General Authorities have to accomplish. These guys are all getting on in years and working very hard. I'd like to see you manage that kind of schedule at 95 with the limited amenities of even a 1st class comercial jet, and having to go through all those security checks and everything else involved with world travel. In yer dreams.
And what leader of an organization so large doesn't have perks to simplify his life and work.
I can't believe the completely wrongheaded idiocy of all the nonsense on this site. It's not even an effective anti-mormon site. It seems like an anti-mormon site for really superficial simple minded goobers. Taking literal what's not, vice versa, and both where obvious. It nit picks every little detail as if the church and Prophet are supposed to be flawless. It's sludge.
Take this bit of slop, for instance: I know this is like shooting fish in a barrel, but I just ran across another of Hinkley's statements that just strike me as so obvious he doesn't prophesy, "see," or reveal anything:
(April 2001 General Conference) "I am so grateful that we live in an era of comparative peace. There are no great wars raging across the world. There is trouble here and there but not a great worldwide conflict. We are able to carry the gospel to so many nations of the earth and bless the lives of the people wherever it goes." (Given only 5 months before September 11th)
Just like when he was on Larry King the day before the tsunami struck Southeast Asia, he is oblivious. He should be embarrassed for himself. I can imagine him thinking "Come ON Lord! Just ONCE couldn't you give me a heads up on something?"
Utter BS*. All this proves is that you are either ignoring, or just plain don't know some of the very most basic concepts of church doctrine. I suspect you are intentionally leaving your knowledge or brain behind, because it would show up what stupidity this post was.
According to doctrine of the church, the purpose of a mortal life is partially to be tested. Because of that, it would be antithetical to the purpose of a Prophet to warn everybody of everything bad that was to happen. Not to mention, it would be utterly ridiculous for him to waste all his time prophesying the zillions of bad things coming. It would be more than all the members of the church could do. A thousand, ten thousand, or a hundred thousand prophets couldn't do it.
He is only charged with prophesying, seeing, and revealing those things which are necessary for members to know in order to do God's will and get to heaven.
Nothing and no one is expecting him to foresee everything that's to come. It's obvious when you read what church authorities write, including Joseph Smith himself, that he often only receives knowledge when he first asks God a question. Revelations come in response, as is quite evident from umpteen parts of the Doctrine and Covenants.
As far as the direct quote, note the word comparatively. There truly are no large scale wars going on at this time. You mention 9/11. That's NOT a war. That's an act of terrorism. As for the "war" in Iraq and that in Afghanistan, as you point out, the statement was prior to them. If you weren't just another ticked off dipstick with your head up your ass*, you'd also be pointing out that its very fundamental from prophecy and scripture that the "last days" will be a time of "wars and rumors of wars".
Comparatively, the "wars" in the Middle East are very small. Tens of thousands perhaps being killed in a population of over 6 billion on the planet! Nothing compared to the scale or numbers of WWII with 57,000,000 losing their lives; or in comparison to Viet Nam, or Korea. It's all exactly what he says. "not a great worldwide conflict." Additionally, his statement about the gospel is correct. Many nations have begun allowing missionaries to at least do humanitarian work, if not proselyte.
Your final comment on the quote is utterly assinine, because you are deigning to speak for God. I didn't see where you claim to be a prophet yourself. Yet you imply that either God wants people to know about big bad events to come, or that it's the place of a prophet to reaveal them. Both just WRONG! And any further knowledge, you can't know without knowing the mind of God.
This site is really an utter waste of time and effort. All these "articles" are nothing but one pissed persons' rants and contain nothing of any substance. They don't even remotely show any knowledge whatever of what the LDS church actually believes or what it's members are taught.

I like your title "hatemail". It's pretty close to how I feel but "contempt" might be a little more accurate.
When I deal with those who attack MY church I am often reminded of a not very Christian bumper sticker I once had.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE WAY I DRIVE, GET THE HELL OFF MY SIDEWALK.
That's how I sometimes look at those who attack from the outside. If you don't like what we believe and how we govern ourselves then stay away from us. If you don't like the church influence in Salt Lake or Utah then go someplace else or quit chur bitchin. Remember we settled it, we improved it and to a great degree we own it. That includes not only what the church owns but its observant members.
The LDS church is not one filled entirely with gentle souls who would let others walk over them. In fact the majority of them are rather forward and even agressive. A couple of anti-Mormon demonstrators at conference got roughed up a while back and I see the reason for trying to control the demonstrators is to keep even more of them from running into some big, tough crapped off farm boy.
I have found over the years (I'm no kid) that those who leave the church and then attack it are usually (not always) covering fro some real or perceived failure of their own. They are simply losers.
I think of the criticism of the present prophet. I have even on occaision disagreed with some of the policies - I grumble and go along. But I am constantly amazed at a man of his age doing what he does - even with help and resources.
I am absolutely convinced of the truth and divine mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have lived for it, served it and I have always felt the confirmation of the spirit when I am doing what I should be doing and the cold feeling of loss and failure when I don't do what I should.
Is the church perfect? Yes. Will it change? Yes. Why does something perfect need to change from time to time? Because the needs of its imperfect members change and must be met by a loving God and living prophets.
Am I perfect? Not even close, but I'm working on it.
One thing is certain. When those who hate or have rejected the church and I stand before the judgment of God, and we will, I will tell them "I told you so!"

I don't hate for having this site, actually it made me laugh because of
all the misinformation and sillyness. I am a former journalist for CNN
Headline and WINS network, I am lds (coverted age 12 from NY). My
husband as I state below, is a descendant of Joseph Smith. With that
said I have access to documents, journals and insights that the average
mo doesnt have. But even before this I knew he was a prophet God and the
real deal .After viewing and studying for years these journals etc. I
believe without an iota of doubt he is a Prophet. A lot of what you say
is out of context and very limited thinking. Open your mind, and really
research science, math, history and atronomy. Do you really think it is
that far fetched to believe in the plan of salvation, visitation from
angels etc. eternal progression...If you understood ancient and modern
history, you would come to the same conclusion that its all real and
true as I have years ago. Instead of pushing it all aside because of the
human aspect of the institutional church. I mean the everyday mo's with
warts and all~we are all part of the human family and all of us suffer,
have joy, get sick, have faults sin etc. I hope that you eventually find
what you are looking for. I am surprised at anyone writing with such
hate and disdain. I do dislike ignorance, so I'll simply state that
ignorance is dangerous. blind ignorance can be a high price to pay.

I certainly don't hate you and feel strange sending this under the banner
of hate mail, but feel the need to protest the assertion that my dad, Kim
Clark, left Harvard for BYU Idaho because of greed. You put forward the
opinion that my dad did this because he hopes some day to rise to higher
levels of LDS leadership and be on easy street. Easy street? You are
misinformed. The life of the Dean of HBS is much more luxurious than that
of President of BYU Idaho, of even a member of the First Presidency. But
that aside, I know my father and he is not a man motivated by greed, nor is
he a brainwashed fool. I am familiar with the many issues that your site
has with Mormonism and am not bothered at all by your airing of those
issues. However, I feel that to seek to smear the integrity of someone you
do not know because of their religious beliefs is wrong. There are ways to
put forward your complaints with Mormon doctrine and how the church is run,
I would simply suggest that you refrain from personal attacks unless you
have firsthand experience with the individual.

However, in the meanwhile I would like to correct a misstatement at your site: "Daniel C. Peterson," you say, "is paid directly by the Mormon Church to contradict, counteract, suppress, withhold and dismiss any claims made by persons outside the LDS Church."
This is not true.
First, I'm not paid "directly by the Mormon Church" at all. I'm paid by Brigham Young University, as are all other professors and staff at the University (including those who are not Latter-day Saints). Thus, at best, I'm indirectly paid by the Mormon Church. This is less dramatic than your formulation, but its more accurate.
Second, no part of my salary -- absolutely none, not a dime -- comes from my apologetic undertakings. I am a professor of Islamic studies and Arabic at Brigham Young University, situated in the Department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages:

Why are you so utterly clueless about translation (or literature) to think that "Adieu" is an inappropriate word for the BofM?
"Adieu" appears frequently in 19th century American literature. The BofM is translated into 19th century American English. Therefore, it is OK to use "adieu" in the book!
This is not complicated people. It doesn't require Dan Peterson's erudite abilities in Mideastern languages to tell you this. Whatever the term was in Jacob, if it meant, God be With You Till We Meet Again (in the afterlife), then "adieu" is perfect. (At least when FARMS waves its Webster's Dictionary, it is using real logic, unlike your logic-free objection that "adieu" is stupid, because, well, its stupid.)
If you want to slam Joseph Smith and the Mormons, and everyone else of us for being idiots, that's fine with me. BUT USE A REAL ARGUMENT! Please!

| Very convenient. Especially since you are helping the obviously emotionally
sick and deluded members of The Church Of Jesus Christ get over themselves
and see the light (or not as the case might be). Someone once said on your
website that if they didn't believe in The Gospel they wouldn't believe in
God at all.
Yeah, that's great logic, that is. Back in the 30's a group of European
intellectuals came to the same conclusion (including Sartre and Salvador
Dali). They wanted to find the true meaning of life but excluded God from
the start. As a result, these 'learned' men got a bit confused. Some of
them killed themselves trying to find the meaning of life.
SO what does that tell me. There were no well meaning bishops 'harrassing'
them. No home teachers trying to do what's right by reaching out. Only
themselves and nothing else.
I am a returned missionary who has been through a lot in my life. My faith
and testimony has been tried like anybody else's. What I can't understand
is why any returned missionary or long-standing member can get so
emotionally hung up over little insignificant points of doctrine.
It annoys me to think that somebody like you has the audacity to claim that
you are helping people with struggling testimonies when in reality you are
nursing an old hurt and want to strike out at the Church of Jesus Christ.
You will come off loser. This is the last you will hear from me so post
